We Love Pancakes!

Over 20 million pancakes are eaten globally every day. They are an iconic staple of American cuisine too, which is why we love them here at Zaks and are proudly serving them on our breakfast and dessert menus!

Turns out our prehistoric ancestors may have even enjoyed tucking into these fluffy, sweet creations. Evidence suggests that 30,000 year old grinding tools were used to make flour out of cattails and ferns which were likely mixed with water and baked on a hot rock or stone. Who’d have thought, hey?

Safe to say that pancakes today are slightly more sophisticated, served across the world with a mix of savoury and sweet accompaniments. Whether you’re a maple syrup and bacon kinda person, or prefer a banana and chocolate topping, there are so many styles and ways to enjoy pancakes which make them such a favourite.

We love them so much that we celebrate Pancake Day each and every year on Shrove Tuesday. On the 28th February 2017 we will once again be celebrating – why not pop down to your nearest Zaks restaurant and sample our seriously tasty all-American pancakes and join in the fun? You could try our stack of five buttermilk pancakes covered with a topping and sauce of your choice and finished with ice cream or cream. They are delicious! Trust us. We’ll be donating 25p for every pancake sold to charity, too.

We’ll also be serving pancakes at our charity breakfast with Connects & Co on March 12th at Poringland. All proceeds will help disadvantaged children and young people who live with the effects of terminal or long-term illness, disability, mental health issues or addiction within their family.
