We were very excited to go there yesterday but end up with big disappointment as the stuff was very slow ( we saw them just hanging around and chating and having good laugh )
We ordered food and brought wrong order not to mention the waiting time
The chicken was not cook propely, chips was overcook and soak with oil, pasta was just like with tomato souce from tin ( our little one was very unwell after few hrs)
Waiting time for deserts was above 30min at the end we left without it.
We definitely won't recommend it or retur back
Overpriced and overrated in my opinion

We’re so glad we found you!
We’d had a bit of drama - my brother had fallen in the river while trying to help someone moor their boat during storm Benjamin….. lost his glasses and we’d had an emergency trip to Asda for dry clothes 🙈😆
We were given a very warm welcome & the food was fantastic! My Nephew said the fatboy ribs were the best food he’d ever eaten & asked if we could visit again “next time”. We loved the decor & music too!
Thank you so much 🤩🤩

If it's been around for nearly 50 years, something is right.
The basics of this place have not changed. Good food, good service. All in a quirky venue on the hights of Moushold. So you arrive and breath the fresh air.
Although been there 50 years, they have moved with the times. There is an excellent vegan/vegetarian menu so if you are a party with a non meat eater, you can still enjoy yourselves.
If I could find a critism, the drinks could be updated. The root beer and cider are average. But that's my opinion.
Price wise, yes they are suffering like all establishments but are still good value for money.
Of note. They do answer the phone with a human. And they will try and fit you in if they are near their capacity. You do need to book, take your chance of there is just 2 of your.

Absolutely loved it, like going back to my younger self.
Range of American diner food was excellent, I opted for baby back ribs with a maple syrup and red pepper glaze, awesome.
Milk shake was ok and I have definitely had better but still enjoyed it. Would I go back again, yes of course!

Very friendly and fast service I had the western burger. Oh my, fantastic. Really tasty, juicy and large. Fries were plentiful and really crispy and lovely to keep munching on. Totally wonderful experience. Just need more exterior signage. Nothing roadside or on outside of building to say what it is. Minor issue as I love this place.

We enjoy the food and have been back several times. Always good service and consistent food. Zak's has a really comprehensive veggie and vegan menu. If you are vegan, be aware of the wings on Wednesdays as it might not be as much fun for you.

Also, I recently found out there's a discount on Sunday evening meals.

I would highly recommend Zak's if you haven't tried it already. The cheese sauce, JD sauce and also the Mac n cheese are great. I also really like the peanut butter burger.

I'm old enough to have eaten one of the delicious Zaks burgers wrapped in foil from the van in the car park that existed before Castle Mall was built. Nothing will ever be as good as that burger, but the one I had at Zaks in Poringland was very enjoyable.

I'm old and boring now so the music was a bit too loud, and the wait for somebody to come out and seat us was a bit too long but otherwise it was a good experience. Friendly and helpful service.

My friend is dairy and gluten intolerant and it was good to know that some of the dishes could be adapted so she had more choice.

My partner and I had a lovely time at Yankees. Food was good it was loud and full of amptmosphere all the staff working incredibly hard when it was packed! Our server Lucy made our visit, even though shes new went above and beyond for us, making jokes and carrying so much food up and down the stairs 10/10 visit🩷

I’ve been a loyal visitor of the Zaks Waterside branch for years, but I recently came to the Mousehold diner for the first time with my partner – and I’m glad I did.

The atmosphere here was fantastic: friendlier, cosier, and overall much more inviting. I also liked that the lighting was lower, which gave the diner a calmer feel and made the atmosphere much less harsh. The food did take a little longer to arrive than I was used to though. However, the place had a great vibe, with everyone clearly enjoying themselves.

One small difference I noticed compared to Waterside was the water – we were given two medium glasses of water rather than the usual pitcher. Not a big deal though, and I’ll simply ask for a pitcher next time.

Now for the food: the wings are without a doubt, the best in Norwich. They’re huge, packed with flavour, and the sauce options are unique in my opinion. I especially like the peanut butter-based sauce which I haven't found anywhere else. I had a starter, main and dessert too – every dish was impeccable, with portions that were generous and filling compared to many other local spots. I also appreciate the wet wipes provided for cleaning my hands, before heading to the ladies' room to wash up properly.

Even though Mousehold is a longer drive for me than Waterside, I’ll be choosing this branch from now on. The warm unpretentious atmosphere, great food, and genuinely friendly service with no rush to move on to the next course made it a perfect evening.

We’ve been going to Zak’s for about two years now, and it has become one of our favorite spots. The staff are always kind and attentive, they always ask about our son and make us feel truly looked after. Tabitha in particular is wonderful, but honestly every single member of the team is amazing, no matter how busy it gets. The food is good and there’s plenty of variety, but it’s really the staff that make the difference.
A real top show...

The food was cooked to perfection time and time again. Each dish came out perfect.

The server was super lovely and did a great job creating a great customer experience.

Im glad I visited.

I reccomend the Wings Wednesday, all you csn eat wings for £14

Great venue, great food

What a difference from Zak's riverside! I really wondered if Zak's hsd lost it's way but clearly it is alive and thriving in Poringland.
Right from the greeting we felt comfortable and cared for.
The food was amazing, just like Zak's always was, juicy burgers chargrilled to perfection, great fries and good cocktails.
Maddy M was great, perfectly attentive without being invasive, all the staff worked great together and created a really friendly atmosphere.
Thank you for reviving my faith in Zak's as a brand.

We had no problems booking but I did find the car park to be really tiny and a tight squeeze. I have no idea where else we could have parked. The restaurant has great decor and really adds to the American feel and theme. The staff are all really lovely, enthusiastic and friendly. Service was efficient and the food was brilliant. We had no problems here at all and highly recommend visiting. After eating we were able to sit outside by the river with a drink, it was a lovely summers evening and just perfect. Will definitely be returning!

We walked along the riverbank from Fye Bridge to Zaks, a pleasant stroll there and back. The baby ribs in barbecue sauce were utterly delicious, they fell off the bone. Fries came hot and crispy, I didn't have enough capacity to finish the lovely coleslaw. Excellent service and atmosphere, with a relaxing view out across the river to Cow Tower.

Great decor and location next to river, cocktail's quite sweet and not at a top level but came here for food which was very nice and plenty on plate for what you pay. Staff very pleasant, attentive and helpful.
Unable to score on atmosphere as was a late lunch so was a bit quiet, would definitely return for an evening meal.

There's a choice of Zak's in the area and this one often gets overlooked. Parking is very limited, but there are a few spaces if you time it right.
The restaurant is compact but is much less noisy than the Mousehold one.
Service was great, prompt and friendly. The hot wings were just right. My burger was nicely cooked with plenty of flavour. It's great to see some creative burgers on the menu. I'm also a fan of a coke float so it was great to see that on the menu too.
The bill was reasonable given how much we had ordered.
Give the place a try if you are in the area, I think it's a worthy stop (throw in some potato tots while you are at it)

Absolutely love this place. We always visit in the week about 5pm and it’s never busy. Food is hot and cooked well (never burnt, always juicy).

Staff are always super friendly and nothing is too much for them. We always see the older blonde lady and she’s always in a good mood and smiling. All the staff are friendly with our kids, getting involved with them with high fives etc.

We only visit every couple of months as a treat but we are consistently treated well. We love you guys, thank you 💖

I literally have vivid memories of this place from years ago, that's how cool it is!

A few years ago, going to Zak's was an experience, the burgers were amazing, glasses were frozen and the staff buzzing.
This has clearly changed, the food was ok, the 2 lonely pieces of processed cheese on a burger was upsetting as were the tiny, end of the bag fries. The Caesar Salad with Halloumi was small but the courgette fries were great.
We ordered cocktails, I asked for the long island iced Tea, (to share or not does not, it seem mean 2 sizes) the server did not let me know that this was only in sharing size and a bowl of iced tea arrived, I said that I was expecting a normal sized one and was told , that's the only size we do.
I would have been ok with that had the drink had the kick I would expect from this cocktail, it was vaguely flavoured overpowered by the coke.
The staff were indifferent which made a birthday meal disappointing. Maybe this was just a bad day at the waterside.

We have been loyal and happy customers of Zak’s for years - we have the Love Club loyalty card and have always enjoyed the food previously, but we had a disappointing experience on our latest visit. The service was fine, but the food wasn’t up to its usual standards. I don’t know if they’ve changed suppliers but the fries were dry and crispy and my partner had lots of small crispy end bits of fries rather than actual fries. Her bacon was chewy aswell.

In addition we completely understand that businesses have been pummelled recently by spiralling costs and national insurance increases but the prices have increased quite significantly. We don’t mind paying more, but when the quality isn’t the same but for a higher price, it’s hard to justify.

A real shame as we love Zak’s and have always recommended them in the past. Hopefully this was just a one off!

Fantastic place. Got us in without a reservation and the 2 woman serving looked after us wonderfully.

We had the ribs, the steak and the maverick burger, and all were perfect.

Highly recommend!
We have decided to work through the awesome menu of burgers that Zak’s offers.
On this occasion we shared a De-Luxe and The Frenchy. De-Luxe is a classic winning cheeseburger. A firm favourite for the many. For me though The Frenchy would take the crown in this line up.
It’s an absolute beast. Great tasting burger and delicious drenched in gravy.
Of course there was room for dessert.
I could happily just go to Zak’s for a piece of cheesecake. It is insane. Worth a visit.
I’ll be going again. And again. And again

Absolutely love this place! We’ve been to Yankee Traveller a few times now and it’s officially our favourite restaurant in the area 😍

The vibe is amazing — from the classic American diner decor to the fun and well-thought-out menu and branding, everything just hits the mark. It really feels like you’ve stepped into a slice of the U.S. right in Great Yarmouth!

The food is always incredible — super tasty and full of flavour. I can’t recommend the JD burger enough… seriously good! There’s such a wide range to choose from, whether you’re in the mood for burgers, hot dogs chicken wings, or something sweet.

Plus, the service is always friendly and efficient, which makes the experience even better. Always leave feeling happy (and full!).

Great food, excellent service and very family friendly. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the portion sizes were really impressive and there was plenty of choice (including vegetarian and vegan alternatives) and colouring activities were provided for the children. Went for lunch with family and children.

Booking system easy. Interiors nice.

I to be a Zaks fan but hadn't been in a while but not sure I will return.

I paid £20 for cold curly fries, onion rings and a small amount of chicken on some odd tasting peppers and onions.

Other family members weren't impressed with theirs. My sister who is gluten free had to pay an extra £1(!)for what looked like unchopped salad as her side instead of chips which is ridiculous. They also had no salad cream or dressing for it. Who wants to eat a dry salad?! And pay an extra £1 for it! Her chicken burger was so dry she didn't finish it.

The toilets are ridiculously small! My 5 year old hit his head on the toilet roll dispenser 4 times just trying to get into the toilet. We are not large people and struggled to get into the toilet! Never had this before.

We wouldn't return sadly..it used to be so good there.

In all fairness, Zaks is worth a high 4 stars, but not 5 stars…last time I went.
For sentiment, feeling, atmosphere…recent history, even, this is a really top place. On a sunny summer evening, there's nothing quite like it around here. With the building, the Americana-filled decoration, even the dry and sandy soil, it's the closest you're going to get around here to a perhaps rural southern US diner / bar - if, presumably, the TV / movie version. It's almost surprising that the soundtrack to our most recent visit was mostly 80s and 90s UK hits, not US rock and pop. Sitting upstairs just feels
In truth, the feel and atmosphere of the place is probably the biggest thing. However, the food and drink is important, still. And it's good. Curly fries are very tasty and there are great burger options to choose from, but (and you were waiting for a 'but') my burger was just a little bit dry. And the fries, should you ever mistakenly get them instead of curly fries, are pretty, well, bland. So, good food - it really is - but not great last time.
There's an excellent menu for kids that is great value - £10 for a very good size main, with pudding and a drink when we went in May 2025. And service is very friendly and welcoming - and pretty attentive. They're good people.
So… mostly, the burgers I've had here have been excellent, so the loss of a point might just be temporary. Most importantly, I'd still really, really recommend the place. Have fun!

The restaurant wasn’t very busy, I think people are starting to vote with feet now a burger meal costs £17 or more, not just Zak’s but to make the margins needed to stay open with all the extra costs from inflation and wages the price has to give, food was ok, because it was quiet it didn’t have the normal Zak’s buzz about the place.
Group of fellas eating near us, didn’t really want to hear the f bomb every other word. Most of the food fresh but as is often the case with burger joints they see everything important other than the bun, freezing and toasting never normally works, it’s often the cheapest ingredient and gets overlooked.
Waited for a bit for the bill, tried to use the “love card” (as the website says) and were told it doesn’t work in GY as they have different tills, until the businesses can be fully integrated maybe leave 2 websites.
It’s the first time we have been to GY in about 6 months and will probably give it a wide Berth, the Norwich and Poringland restaurants just do a better job of delivering the tried and trusted Zak’s brand. If I could offer some advice to Chris and Ian it would be to give the GY branch a bit more of their time as it simply wasn’t on an equal level.

Every 'big' birthday we head to Zaks! Mainly because we're a family of meat eaters, vegetarian and vegans... Zak's menu has a great selection of both meat veggie and vegan dishes that every one is happy and catered for. Having dishes changed to suit your needs or likes is no problem. Today (26.04.25) was my son's 30th Birthday and without asking he was presented with an ice cream with candles and nearly everyone sang happy birthday to him! The atmosphere is absolutely fantastic and so very friendly! Our waitress was Zoe... she was very friendly, funny (my husband met his match), courteous and made sure we were all happy - thank you Zoe!! All in all, we had a fantastic evening and this is why we always go to Zaks for our birthday meals!

My partner is a big burger fan so I booked this as a special treat on Good Friday, I wasn't going to leave a review as the experience was disappointing but I've been to the toilet twice already in the 5 minutes I've been up. My partner described the burger as 'fine but I won't rush back' I had the southern fried chicken which was tasteless and extremely over cooked. I think it had been reheated many times as it was very brown and crunchy (not crispy). I think it's very likely that their food hygiene standards are questionable and they could do with changing the fat in their fryer more often. I take no pleasure in leaving this kind of review and will not be returning. I just hope they take note for future customers.

Very dry and bland burgers,
Coleslaw was bland as well
Fries were really tasty and crispy specifically curly fries.
Chocolate milkshakes were good nothing special.
Portion sizes were really good!
But nothing special which would make to get back!
Sitting outside next to the river was really nice.
Took ages for the waitress to bring the bill.
Terrible parking area with very limited spaces! Took us 10-15 minutes to wait for one family who were not even customers came from walking next to the river and getting in to the car so, we could park our car!
Won’t come back!
Zaks Riverside Bar and Grill is an absolute gem that delivers big on flavor, vibes, and variety. Nestled by the water, this place offers not just scenic views, but a menu that’ll make your taste buds sing. If you're a burger or hot dog lover, prepare yourself — the selection here is nothing short of legendary.

From towering gourmet burgers stacked with juicy patties and bold toppings, to classic all-American hot dogs with a twist, every bite is pure satisfaction. The portions are generous, the buns are perfectly toasted, and the combinations are creative without being over the top. Whether you're a traditionalist or someone who likes it spicy, there’s something for everyone.

But let’s talk about the real showstoppers — the milkshakes and cocktails. The milkshakes are indulgent, thick, and packed with flavor. Whether you’re into Oreo, strawberry, or something more adventurous, they’re dessert and drink in one. And the cocktails? Smooth, balanced, and served with flair. Perfect for sipping while watching the sunset over the river.

The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with friendly staff and a laid-back vibe that makes you want to linger longer. Whether you’re out with friends, on a date, or just treating yourself, Zaks hits all the right notes.

If you’re anywhere near the area and haven’t tried it yet — what are you waiting for? Zaks Riverside is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates great food, great drinks, and a great time.

As a person with dietary restrictions (IBS-low FODMAP diet) I could have not be looked after better! Bryony was so accommodating that she even went to the freezer to take a photo of the burger buns label, so that I could make sure none of the ingredients make me ill. Tom was so reassuring, too. Both patiently helped me to make a choice. Bryony made sure I'm not allergic and offered my food to be prepared as if I was. For the first time in ages I didn't feel like I'm a nuisance when ordering food! Thank you Bryony and Tom!
Hey Zaks, how about creating a menu suitable for IBS sufferers? There are a ton of us out there and we rarely eat out due to ingredients restricted in IBS being commonly used in most dishes. You would be first to do so and very much loved for that! :)

Yarmouth doesn't deserve this place.
The service is fast, the food is delicious, comes in large portions and is served by attentive and lovely staff. The menu is stacked with a wide range of burgers, hot dogs, chicken and other classics. Desert options were out of this world. I highly recommend trying the Amaretto Affair, the PB burger and the white chocolate pancakes.

We ate here 3 nights out of our 5 night stay in Yarmouth because nothing else could compete and we were drawn back time and again.

5 stars. Would go again if for some reason I find myself in Yarmouth again, though *that* I can't recommend.

Food was great, no complaints there, and what a bargain on 2 for 1 days. Unfortunately the older brunette lady that served us was incredibly rude and had no customer service or manners. Massive thank you to the younger lady who rectified our incorrect bill as soon as she noticed without us even having to ask.

Long time favourite, been many times throughout the years and have never been disappointed! Such a fun American 🇺🇸 restaurant with an energetic menu, My all time favourite is “the pb” (peanut butter burger 🍔) maybe an unpopular decision for some but I love it! And of course a mint chocolate shake! (wish the portion was bigger though) never manage to finish all the food and always take half home to enjoy again; although always best fresh! Will continue to return 😄

Visited here for my birthday and was very impressed with food and service. Our server was Rabbi and he was very attentive, friendly and welcoming. My partner tried one of the hot dogs for the first time and was very pleased with his choice, he thought this was excellent. Food was served quickly. Meals are a bit on the pricey side (burger and curly fries was £16.50 and desserts £7) but it was all very good quality.

We had a great night here and that was a combination of quality service and good food (I guess the company helped too 😂).
Parking can get a bit chaotic as there isn't much space.
The old building has a charm but can get a bit noisy.
Service was with a smile and a sense of humour which was appreciated. I can heartily recommend the chicken wings as the BBQ sauce was bang on. I'm also a fan of the cheese sauce with the mains.
I would eat here again for sure.

Visited Zak’s Mousehold this evening. We have been a few times and always been very happy with the food and service.

However this evening although the food was good, the service we received from our waitress was below par. Within seconds of sitting down before we had even had chance to look at the menu we were asked if we had made our choices then rushed to choose our drinks. Definitely not service with a smile and our empty glasses stood at the end of the table throughout the majority of our meal. Then just as our children had finished their dessert, the waitress finally asks (bearing in mind she has been backwards and forwards to our table several times in between) if anyone would like another drink. My husband would have done had he been asked a little earlier.

The waitress then leaves the table (glasses still left there) just gets the bill and within seconds arrives with card machine. We didn’t leave a tip (we always leave a tip).

I would have been a little more understanding had they been mega busy, but they were not at the time we arrived. I know we could have asked but I have worked in customer service myself in the past and it’s a service you provide to the customer, I think maybe this particular waitress needs a little more training!

I honestly have no idea why I don't come here more often as it is fantastic.
My wife and I took our son who is visiting us from abroad on Sunday. The welcome we received was very friendly and we were directed to our table promptly.
The atmosphere wad great, a friendly vibe going on and busy but not too busy.
The food was as always top notch, the chicken wing starters were outstanding, tender and very tasty indeed. Our burgers were fabulous and my vegan brownie was nothing short of amazing.
The service was nothing short of excellent and overall I have nothing but praise for my experience. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough, if you want a great evening out go here. Unfortunately I was having such a good time I forgot to take any photos.

Nice location with plenty of parking. Not busy Friday lunchtime. Staff friendly and efficient. I felt the milkshake a little pricey for what it was. Food was slow to arrive. They got my wifes burger wrong, but they sorted that as quickly as possible. Mine was nice but not amazing, and the roll appeared a little dry. Eaten there before, which was better in terms of both speed and food taste.

Had a brilliant meal out at the Zaks Yankee Traveller in Yarmouth, Chargrilled Chicken breast, Potato wedges 🌽 corn cob, my friend had hot dog and fries 🍟 and we shared some onion rings, plus pint of Budweiser each. The food was absolutely delicious, will definitely go again. And all reasonably priced. It is great American Experience. and really friendly staff creating the perfect atmosphere.
The food there was great! The curly fries with cheese were so delicious and mouth-watering! I’d recommend going there instead having dinner at home! (If wanted to)

We had an amazing experience at the Riverside branch after being turned away from Poringland branch. The food was amazing and so was the staff. The atmosphere was very loud for my partner who wears hearing aids and I noticed there was a little baby on the other table who couldn’t settle down not sure why but I assumed the very loud music was disturbing. Overall it was amazing!!
Been coming to Great Yarmouth for years, and this is the first time visiting this establishment and got to say wow. Everything was perfect, from the service to the food don't know why we haven't been here before. Will definitely be back here again 5⭐️

Wife and I fancied a Sunday morning breakfast and having heard great things about Zak's decided to give it a go.
We arrived around 11:00 and parked in the small car park with no issues. There was a beautiful classic American car parked outside.
On entering, we were greeted warmly and asked whether we wanted to sit inside or outside?
We chose outside despite the inside of the restaurant having some very cool looking American/Rock and Roll Memorabilia.
This turned out to be a great move as the view from the outside terrace is amazing.
A very friendly waitress took our order (1 large American and 1 small American breakfast ). And shortly after brought us two cups of tea (You get bottomless teas or coffees with the breakfasts a nice touch).
We sat back and enjoyed the views and the conversations form other guests, a couple of who were obviously in a rock & roll band that had played last night. It was a great, friendly, and chilled vibe.
When the food arrived, it was great, the sausage patties tasted like they had been charcoal grilled and were worth the price of entry on their own, the rest of the meal didn't disappoint in either quality or quantity, we paid the bill which came to a remarkably reasonable £19 (we added a 22% tip as the service was excellent).
We will be going back.

A high thank you to all the staff at Zak's, they run a remarkably great restaurant and do it well.

Had an amazing hot chicken wings with fries and they were very good! Tasty, juicy and good spicy!
Fries were also amazing, my friends had burgers, steak and ribs and were all big sizes and also really good! Also the service was fantastic the lady was really kind, engaging and made us feel welcome! shame that I live really far as I would come back all the time!

The drinks were phenomenal - one of the best milkshakes I've had (although the portion was quite small). The food was large in portion size but the burgers we had were quite dry and 3 of them didn't have much sauce which was a shame because the rest was lovely.

I ate here for my work's Christmas do and I can honestly say Zak's is fine. If you like that sort of Americana vibe i.e. burgers, hotdogs, fried chicken stuff, you'll enjoy it.

Food - The portions are enormous! I ordered a plate of fried chicken because I'd heard their steaks weren't great and I try to avoid ordering a burger in restaurants. It was fine, not a lot of meat on the thighs, the seasoning was flavourful if not a little bit hard, the fries and beans were fine, definitely from the freezer and a can but it is what it is. It was fine, not exciting but edible.

Service - The service was friendly, they asked if I had any allergies, I told them onion and in her defence she did everything right, checked with the kitchen etc, they removed the coleslaw from my meal, it wouldn't have hurt offered some gravy as an alternative or something but it's not the end of the world. She messed up the starters for the table but fixed the issue... Service was fine.

Atmosphere - Hyper Americana, it was super loud and bright. Plenty of parking, level access to the restaurant at the side. Broken toilet door on the only stall. Nothing to write home about.

Great place to come for a burger, never dissapoints.
18 types of chargrilled burgers, amongst other grills and hotdogs ~ my favourite is the 'Meltdown burger'
Got to have the curly fries..
Really nice restaurant inside, american themed, good music played in the background (jukebox classics 👍).
Was lucky today ~ had two for one on the burgers 🍔 our go to if fancying something for a change 👍
Lovely friendly staff.

Parking at Zaks grill and bar on barrack Street is a little small!! highly advise to book a table as its very popular here.

Have been a regular customer at Zaks over the years but unfortunately on my last visit we were not very impressed. The burger rolls had clearly been defrosted and then toasted but the top half my roll was almost frozen in the middle. Hope this was a one off. Did try to to write to management on facebook to explain the situation but didn't receive a reply.

Best place for American-style food in Norwich. I went this evening with my partner, we didn't book and it was rammed but they managed to set us up with a table anyway. We were then informed that there is a Thursday night deal where you get two burgers or hot dogs for the price of one, which is incredibly good value for money. The food came and my partner and I had eaten and gone in 30 minutes, just to emphasise how speedy our service was. The food was phenomenal and at an extremely reasonable price compared to other restaurants, truly a classic.

First visited this restaurant in the mid 70s, when it was brilliant. Since then it's had it's ups and downs, but now it's back to its best. The food was excellent ( okay one meal came with fries not wedges but we didn't mind), burgers can be tweaked without being made to feel a nuisance, atmosphere was good and the music at the right level and era. Staff were busy but helpful. Had a really good lunch (main course only) and was in and out in an hour.

I visited Zaks Mousehold Diner with my partner and a friend last week.
The waitresses were really lovely and friendly, the food was lush (I had a pulled pork Sandwich for dinner and lime cheesecake for pudding), and the alcoholic milkshake was amazing!
Very good value for money considering the portion sizes.
ZAKS!!! Don’t be fooled by the fairly ‘safe’ frontage, it’s a great place for friends and family to grab some great food and have a good laugh.

We’ve been going to Zak’s for years with friends and our family. It’s consistently good in both service and food. (Double stacked Western Burger with sweet potato fries for me please)

Service is nearly always swift and always friendly, and they’re very accommodating with kids. Food is served quickly, and it’s tasty!

It does get busy, and it does get noisy. If you’re looking for a quiet romantic date, look elsewhere.

If you want to get a bunch of friends together and you want a good bite to eat, give Zak’s a go!

What a wonderful place.! Found it on Google, figured we'd give it a try, and I'm very glad we did.! Very accommodating, we tried our luck by turning up without booking, managed to get us a table very quickly, staff were polite, knowledgeable, and very friendly, I had the texas combo with a fatboy, and damn.! It was amazing.! The wedges were huge and perfect, the fatboy just melted in the mouth, and the chicken was fantastic.! Also, hands down the best garlic bread I've had in a very long time.!

Now, I know I've given it 4 stars, but there were a couple of small issues, that prevent me from giving a full 5. I had a coffee milkshake, and whilst it was extremely good, I believe it to be overpriced for the amount you get, and the chairs for the table needed to be more comfortable.

Otherwise, a definite 4.8 out of 5, and would happily return and spend more time feeling fat and very happy.!

Unable to get somewhere closer to home, we came to Zaks Diner, even though we could only get an early table. We are so glad we did. The menu had a great choice of food and drinks. Milkshakes and cocktails were tried and got the thumbs up and then the process of working out which burger to have. There were so many to choose from. I settled for a PB (peanut butter and maple syrup) It was lovely. All the food came out quick and there was no complaints around the table. Our waiter was attentive and all in all we had a lovely time.

Seriously? Zak’s is another case of hyper over-charging for absolute low grade slop. Fried pickles were a joke, more like fried pickle skin. Fryer was obviously dirty, batter was dark brown and tasted bitter. Burger patties are disgusting, probably frozen. How hard is it to make a burger? Isn’t that your specialty?

Stale, dried out bun. Mine came SWIMMING in BBQ sauce, a massive, inedible mess- cooked to leather when I asked for medium. No cutlery or napkins offered, had to ask for everything. Just careless food, sloppy, and overpriced. Sure, the ice cream sundaes are massive, if that’s your thing. Hard to mess up ice cream. Avoid going for anything else. Won’t be going back, not a chance, when so many other places put care and real value to their food. Big fat zero for Zak’s.

One of my favourite food spots in Norwich. I usually come here with family or my partner for special occasions, such as birthdays. I LOVE the curly fries here and everything is always so tasty. A solid choice for an American diner experience. This is a Zak's restaurant, so if you've been there, it's a similar quality of experience (which is good!) I had The Texas Combo, which had plenty of food and each part of the meal was enjoyable. The Western burger was also good from what I was told. Lots of stuff to look at on the walls, good music to listen to and there was some historical sporting stuff on the telly. Worth a look.

Lovely tea today at Zak's American Diner on Mousehold for the Grandsons birthday treat!
Lovely atmospheric American Diner but be aware the food is 'chips with everything!' Really tasty food and the burgers are cooked to perfection, well cooked but still moist!! Yum!!
We sat upstairs which is a bit more roomy, had three lovely meals and two desserts with three drinks and with the offer of two for one at the moment the bill was only £51.
Good service from lovely friendly staff. Just note, parking can be a problem!! Really enjoyed and will be back.
